Hi,

debian 3.1 (aka sarge) is mentioned on the following documentation as valid host system: http://www.freewrt.org/trac/wiki/Documentation/HostSystems

In fact debian 3.1 is too old, because of the make version used in sarge. Please update this information and replace debian 3.1 with debian 4.0 (aka etch).

Debian ist just fine, they patched their make to do not trigger the bug.
