Description

VOIP is a pretty central application for me and for good VOIP quality, traffic shaping is absolutely essential. Unfortunately, the connection tracking for VOIP is non trivial and requires the ip_conntrack_sip module. The target is already referenced in mk/netfilter.mk in FreeWRT but nothing seems to be done about it during compile & packaging time.

Would it be possible to enable and package it?

Hi Georg,

do you know any working patch for Linux 2.4? Some time ago Florian from OpenWrt? have added a patch from 2.4.20 (Broadcom source) to OpenWrt?. This was removed by OpenWrt? later. We have no sip support, just some old stuff, which was not removed.

Do you know a backport patch for 2.4? SIP Connection tracking is added in latest 2.6 netfilter code.

Hi Waldemar,

that is an excellent question. I see some references to patches back to January 2005 (see http://lists.netfilter.org/pipermail/netfilter-devel/2005-January/018252.html) but whether or not they work I have no idea.

I guess that we don't have anyone who's jumping up and down willing to do the port, hu? :)

Kernel 2.6 has all neccessary iptables features, but lacks wlan support. At least that results a situation "either ip_conntrack_sip or wlan". Older Linksys WRT54G have a mini PCI slot, so wlan card may be replaced by an Atheros card.

Hi,

Asus WL500gP have a Mini-PCI slot, too. I have enabled ip_conntrack_sip for our 2.6 port. But at the moment only Routerboard 532 is supported. I hope to get brcm-2.6 running, when 1.1 is ready.

I close the ticket, because the "feature" is enabled and packaged.
